A 3m × 3m canvas tarp is one of the most useful things you can carry. String it between the 4WD and a tree for shade at lunch, pitch it over your swag before rain comes through, or lay it down as a clean floor under the awning.
Why canvas
It's made from 410gsm (12oz) canvas, the same heavy-duty canvas we use in our swags.
It doesn't crackle and flap like a poly tarp, so it's quieter in wind at night.
It breathes, so there's less condensation dripping off the underside.
It stands up to the Australian sun far longer than cheap plastic, which goes brittle and splits.
It's heavier, so it sits flat as a ground sheet and doesn't blow around.
Ways to use it
Shade shelter or rain fly, tied off to your vehicle, a roof rack, trees or poles.
Extra cover over a swag in heavy rain.
Ground sheet under a swag, tent or awning.
Wind break on an exposed beach or plain.
Picnic rug or a cover for gear on a trailer.
In the bag
It comes with a PVC carry bag to keep it clean and dry in the vehicle. Poles, ropes and pegs aren't included, so you can use whatever suits your setup.
